Literacy Project since June 2011

What happened in the Literacy Programme at Ikhaya Trust since June 2011?

Here are some of the highlights during the second half of 2011:

Adele Botha(Literacy trainer and developer) and the facilitators/teachers from Ikhaya Trust attended the Reading Association of South Africa Conference at the University of Cape Town over the weekend of the 16-18 September 2011. Zenex awarded bursaries to the teachers and facilitators to attend the conference.

Mhlobo Jadezweni ‘s Creative Writing Workshop for the staff of Ikhaya Trust and the Readers and Writers Society of Kayamandi on 15 September 2011. Thank you to DISTELL for sponsoring this workshop.

DISTELL also sponsored two Storytelling workshops conducted by staff of the Vulindlela Reading clubs and PRAESA. These workshops were well attended by staff from Ikhaya Trust as well as community members and parents from Kayamandi.

The Literacy programme has expanded and has been registered with Helderberg Uitreik (Outreach) during August 2011, as one of their projects too. Here are some pictures of the Uyavula Project in Chris Nissen Park.

The teachers of the creche and preschool classes, Mabel Rens and Noziphiwo Ndaleni conducted mini parent workshops during August 2011. Thank you to DISTELL for sponsoring these workshops!
