Literacy Project Going From Strength to Strength

The Literacy Project has been doing sterling work. Below are some of the activities.

The new Aftercare facilitators in the Literacy training during April 2011. In this photo they are searching for high frequency words in the magazines. An activity that would be suitable for most of the Aftercare learners.

Lumka Vava, facilitator for the younger learners in the Aftercare, busy with a Shared Reading session. She is making use of an enlarged poem.

The creche children visiting the Literacy room. Here they are busy with “box talk.” The theme for the week was “School” and in the box were a variety of stationery. They had to choose one item and in this way their vocabulary are extended.

Taking Literacy outside. The children from the preschool class were doing sidewalk writing using chalk.

During one of the Literacy training sessions, the Trust centre manager, Mpumi Mrubata joined the facilitators for training. Idrene Mrali and Mpumi are working with words on the baking trays covered with shaving cream.
