Stellenbosch Entrepreneurs Project

SEED (Stellenbosch Entrepreneur and Enterprise Development) is a non-profit organization based in Kayamandi, South Africa that provides high-quality training and mentoring services that strengthen and support small-, micro-, and medium sized enterprises, inspiring them to optimize their contribution to employment and economic development.

SEED has graduated 246 emerging entrepreneurs from various entrepreneur training and mentoring programs with 100% of our graduates being defined as beneficiaries according to South Africa's Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment and 66% of our participating businesses are owned by women.

Individuals who wish to develop or establish their own businesses receive training in the form of a Micro-MBA training course which is followed by a structured mentoring process. This basic, practical course was developed by Cedric Buffler, a finalist of the prestigious Ernst & Young Social Entrepreneurship Award 2008, for his work in developing this training course.

After the Micro-MBA course, participants are assisted by trained mentors to internalise the study material and apply it in practice for a period of three to six months. The next level of mentorship is the linking of entrepreneurs in Khayamandi with successful business owners in Stellenbosch. During periodic meetings, established business leaders help the new entrepreneurs to analyse and improve the various facets of their small businesses.

The project to settle new entrepreneurs is funded by the Finland South Africa Association.

The chairperson of this project is Herman van der Merwe.

The Stellenbosch Entrepreneurs Project also provides assistance to tourist-directed businesses in Khayamandi, including:
