GSDT and Cape Classic: Dance, drama and donation
On 10 November 2010, the Ikhaya Trust centre hosted for the 6th time the annual concert and handing over ceremony on behalf of Gabi Zahn and Cape Classic.

The children of the Education Project and the Macias Restis After-school Care of the Ikhaya Trust provided an amazing show for each other, their parents and our guests. The concert gave the after-school care children a chance to show case their musical and drama talents; there was dancing, singing, drama, guitar and recorders. Over the past months, these activities were prepared with the children by volunteers from the University of Stellenbosch and local volunteers with the help of our facilitators.

A donation of R40 000 was made to the Greater Stellenbosch Development Trust; the children were most impressed with the 10 soccer balls that Gabi Zahn brought for the two projects.
We are very grateful for the energy and effort that Gabi Zahn and Cape Classic put into our organisation every year.

News from the Literacy Room

Thobeka Msi from Maties Community Service, spent her 67 Madiba minutes reading books to the kids of the Ikhaya Trust Center, in the Literacy room! They loved her vibrant and energetic reading of the stories.

During Aftercare-time we work with one of the groups in the Literacy room on reading and writing three times a week. Some of the older kids help as assistants and are learning some new skills as well.
